the way i make you feel

leadership is something that's been on my mind quite a bit lately. i'm not in a direct leadership role, but everyone is a leader in some way, shape, or form. if you're breathing, you're leading. you just may not be aware of who you're leading yet.

the way i see it, if i'm going to lead i might as well be good at it. that being said, a friend of mine sent me the image posted above a few months ago and it got me thinking about how i want to lead others and make them feel. Maya Angelou nailed it on the head when she said, 

"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” 

so, today i'm purposing to make people feel better after being in my presence or getting a call, text, note, or email from me. and as a side note, i'm also really thankful for a boss that is not a boss by the standards above, but rather a leader. y'all, i'm officially two weeks into the new job and i feel genuinely cared for and deeply valued. this heart is full. grin.

Tim Tebow is worth following

...no, i don't mean on twitter (although, i'll admit that i do...@TimTebow). i mean that his life is worth following. he gets the Gospel. he knows how it affects all he does. his perspective is eternal. his priorities, his speech, his leadership, and his life reflect the Lord. that's why he's worth following. he is an example of what Paul was talking about in 1 Corinthians 11:1 when he said,

"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."

a coworker found this video (below) and we posted it on our All Pro Dad blog, but i thought it was too good not to share on here, too. so, whether or not you are a fan of Tebow's athletic abilities, i think you should at least give him credit for the example he's setting for each of us in how to live a Gospel-centered life no matter where we are or what we do. he leads in love just as Christ did. he uses his speech to encourage and build up those around him. he truly gets it.

the video is just shy of 10 minutes, but it's worth watching all the way through. my personal faves are when he starts singing. enjoy!

i am my father's daughter

for the past 7 years, my dad has given up several weeks of his summer to help mentor teens and mold them into better leaders through Broyhill Leadership Conference's week long camps.

i don't know any man who is better for this task than my pops. he has such a huge heart for teens. he wants to meet them where they are and spur them on toward love and good deeds. quoting a little Hebrews there, did ya catch it?

but as i've said before, my pops is a man of utmost integrity and he is a leader. i have no doubt in my mind that i get my love of discipleship and mentorship from him. like father like daughter, i guess you could say.

i love you dad, and i'm proud to have your genes. ;)
