lesson learned. what was the best thing you learned about yourself this past year? and how will you apply that lesson going forward?
this year has been about change and about discovering what makes me come alive. it's people. more specifically, kids. athletes. volleyball players. i've learned that i'm most alive when i'm coaching or playing or somehow connected to people who share a love for that little white ball. i've been given a huge platform and i intend to use it as long as i can. once they put me on oxygen and i need a walker, i guess i'll turn in my ankle braces, kinesio tape, and prewrap headbands. but until then, game on. whether that be coaching or playing.
i've learned that every encounter is an opportunity. an opportunity to bring hope, joy, passion, and life to a world of people who are discouraged, frustrated, deserted, alone, and dead. i've been made alive in Christ and i get to share that life, love, and joy every day. i don't always do it, but i get the opportunity each day. being able to merge this mindset with a love for volleyball makes me come alive. my spirit burns inside of me. i want to make a difference in the world. i want to do something.
